Milk and your Heart
Cholesterol is an essential part of many body processes but, it is important to keep an eye on the cholesterol levels in our blood.
The amount of cholesterol in our blood may be influenced by:
- our genetic makeup
- the level of saturated fat in our diet
- our level of daily physical activity.
A diet low in fat, particularly saturated fat can help people manage their cholesterol levels and improve heart health. Reduce saturated fat in the diet by cutting down on fatty meats and full fat dairy foods. Choose from the wide variety of low fat dairy foods.
Try to consume foods containing poly- and mono-unsaturated fats like nuts, seeds, fish and vegetable oils.
For more help on how to reduce your saturated fat intake and cholesterol levels see an Accredited Practicing Dietitian.
