Growth & Development
High quality milk protein contains all of the essential amino acids needed for growth and development. There are many benefits of milk also contains natural carbohydrates for energy, plus:
- Calcium & phosphorous for bones and teeth
- Vitamin A for eyes and skin
- Riboflavin for energy release
- Vitamin B12 for DNA and nerves
- Zinc for skin and the immune system
- Magnesium for energy production.
The Dietary Guidelines for Children and Adolescents in Australia recommend that milk, yoghurts, cheese and/or alternatives are consumed by children and adolescents every day.
Reduced, low fat or skim milk is not suitable for young children under two years because of their high energy needs. Regular milk provides an important source of fat soluble vitamins and milk protein to young children. Reduced fat varieties are suitable for children over the age of 2 years and adolescents. Skim or no fat milk is suitable for children over the age of five.
PURA Original milk is recommended for children under 2 years whilst PURA New and PURA Light Start milk may be more suitable for older children.
